Mary Sue Casey 

As Christian Education Director of the Waynesville Missionary Baptist Association, Mary Sue was thrilled to plan annual Black History Programs, annual Spring Retreats, association calendars and directories, and the annual association banquet.  

Working as a high school math teacher at four diverse high schools (Sun Valley High in the NC Piedmont region, Smoky Mountain High in the NC mountains, Cherokee High on the NC Cherokee Reservation, and a private Christian school), Mary Sue’s favorite was the school she was teaching at at the time.

While teaching at Sun Valley High in Monroe, NC, Mary Sue’s Varsity Cheerleading Squads earned 4 consecutive State 3A Cheerleading Championships (1990-1993). 

The one constant in Mary Sue’s life has been the love and support of her family:  parents –  the late Lyndon and Minnie Casey created a home for the family in Sylva, NC; siblings – Audrey Casey of Myrtle Beach, SC and  Curt Casey of Arden, NC.
