ODWC-PRESCOTT SCHOLAR is so proud to be able to give scholarships to two outstanding young women: Breanna Pelletier and Kara Penland.

Breanna is a senior at Franklin High School. She plans to attend Western Carolina University,  getting a degree in nursing.  She hopes to work as a labor and delivery nurse. She enjoys playing soccer, reading books, and cooking. Her role models are her parents. They are extremely hard working and taught her numerous lessons that have proven to be valuable in her everyday life. Her dad is an immigrant and taught her the importance of determination to achieve the impossible. Her mom came from a large family and taught Breanna to always stand up for herself, making her voice be heard.

Kara Penland was an ODWC-PRESCOTT SCHOLAR last year and again this year.  She will be a senior at the University of NC Wilmington. She is currently studying Criminology, Sociology,  and Forensic Science.  She is deciding between getting a masters degree in business or social work before going on to law school. Kara likes reading, hanging out with friends, helping out with club activities, and volunteering on campus.  Her role models are her mom and older sister,  who have sacrificed so much so that Kara can have every opportunity to fulfill her destiny.
